What are the benefits of 3D Scanning?
3D Scanning is fast. Imagine this scenario. A company is asked to retrofit a building for air-conditioning, but the original building plans no longer exist. One way to solve this problem is to draw new building plans. For larger buildings or buildings that have changed significantly over the years, the time and labor of measuring, generating drawings and then checking these drawings could add up fast. Conversely, a technician could scan the job site and compile a perfect as-built 3D point cloud model over the course of a few days (depending on the scope), greatly assisting in the retrofit’s BIM design.
